To put it plain and simple: women are up in Hip-Hop right now. Although we’ve traditionally been blessed with one or two notable women emcees at a time, the last half-decade has introduced us to an array of talented women like Cardi B, Meg Thee Stallion, Saweetie, Yung Baby Tate, Rhapsody and more who have absolutely ran up the score. Looking to add to the pot, rising rapper ERIEL INDIGO has built up a bit of a buzz herself, and she doubles down on that with her thrilling new video for, “Basics for Breakfast.”
Directed by ERIEL herself, the video takes places in a few different studio sets that are brought to life by intriguing wardrobe and atmosphere changes. One of the immediate qualities to take notice of is how well the music syncs with the video, as the two compliment one another to make for an infectious collaboration. Produced by KEVN BLVK, ERIEL utilizes the boom bap inspired production to showcase her impressive cadences, as she slices through the production with a calculated ease.
