Stockton, California’s finest is back. MBNel made his return to the rap game with his 6-track EP titled Child of the Trenches II. The project is his sequel to Child of the Trenches, which was released back on July 17th of this year, which also included six songs. The initial project included instant playlist adds such as the “Redbone ” sampled “Dividends’”& “Heroic ” featuring Blxst. MBNel’s popularity this year has only increased, and rightfully so.
Child of the Trenches II is six tracks long and it includes one single in “Thru the Night” which was released back on September 11th. Prior to the release of the single, the track was featured in an Open Mic visual that was released exclusively on YouTube. “Sincerely” was previewed in an acoustic version with notorious ukulele player, Einer Bankz. The released version is produced by Ralph, who is a frequent collaborator of MBNel’s. After back to back slow tempoed tracks, the Stockton MC turns it up a notch on “Backdoe”. The lone featured artist is former Shoreline Mafia member, Fenix Flexin. Fenix Flexin & MBNel act as if they were Dwayne Wade & Lebron James on “Alley Oop”. The grand finale of the project is “Lingo”, which is a two part track, and this might be one of MBNel’s best songs of his young career when it comes to his MC skills.
MBNel did not miss on his latest piece of work. The crazy part about this, is that he’s not done yet. He released back to back EP’s to keep the audience intrigued for anticipation for his next studio album. Consistency is key to gain & retain relevance, and it’s hard to argue that anyone has done that better than MBNel coming out of the West coast in 2020. Child of the Trenches II is out not on all streaming platforms.
