A Compton, California native YG collaborated with Los Angeles rap group Shoreline Mafia for the first time on Friday. YG hopped on the official remix for one of Shoreline’s recent singles, “Gangstas and Sippas”. YG has shown love to the new wave of LA hip-hop. In April he hopped on the remix for Kalan.FrFr.’s breakout track, “Right Wit It”. Although this is the first time YG has made music with Shoreline Mafia, this isn’t the first time the “FTP” rapper has shown love to OhGeesy and Fenix Flexin. Back in November of 2019, at Tyler The Creator’s annual Camp Flog Gnaw festival, during YG’s set he brought out OhGeesy & Fenix Flexin to perform a couple tracks at Dodger Stadium.
YG hopped on the AceTheFace and Ron-Ron produced instrumental. He joins the original rappers on the track; OhGeesy, Fenix Flexin, and Q Da Fool. YG does his thing for his 40 second long verse.
It’s always good to see a solidified west coast rapper like YG collaborate with the younger generation. Although this was just a remix, hopefully we get more music together. YG & DJ Mustard have made a specific sound for Los Angeles to build off of, and Shoreline Mafia is a perfect example. The Shoreline Mafia studio album is still on the way, it’s coming sooner than later. “Gangstas and Sippas Remix” is out now on all streaming platforms.
