Los Angeles native, and Shoreline Mafia alum, Fenix Flexin returned to music on Friday with his new track, ‘Toxic’. This is the first single off of his upcoming debut solo project titled, Fenix Flexin Vol.1. Putting out music as a solo artist isn’t something new to Fenix Flexin. His first single as the lone rapper on a track was the AceTheFace produced hit, “Fell In Love”, which was the second track on Shoreline’s 2019 mixtape Party Pack Vol.2. Since then, Fenix has been touring as a solo artist, and has featured on other artist’s songs using his own name. He appeared on Ron-RonTheProducer’s 2019 debut project titled RONRONDOTHATSHIT. To start off 2020 Fenix Flexin released the collaborative mixtape with Bravo The BagChaser titled BravoFlexin, a project that did well in the streets of Los Angeles. Other notable collaborations are Slayter’s “Mob Shit” that also features Capolow, and “Touchdown” with Peso Peso. Just this past Monday, the rapper released the mixtape’s artwork, and track listing. The 14-track long tape will feature artists such as Smokepurpp, Frostydasnowmann, White John, and Warhol.SS among others.
“Toxic” is produced by Astro, and the instrumental displays a smooth, laid back vibe. It’s a different look for Fenix, because he’s notorious for the more uptempo/turn up tracks. This track is an answer to possible relationship(s) that didn’t work out. This is a side of Fenix Flexin the mainstream audience hasn’t really seen before, and if you aren’t completely tapped in with Fenix, this might throw you off. He’s displayed a similar tone & cadence on “RIP Mac P Dawg”, released back in April.
This is the rapper’s effort to continue making a name for himself, instead of continuing to be associated with a group. He’s finding different sounds, and the people should be excited for what’s to come. The Shoreline Mafia album is still on the way, and is coming soon. However, this is the last album that Fenix Flexin will be apart of the group, as he announced back in April. Time and time again, Fenix has proven himself as being arguably, the best rapper in the group. Now is his time to show the world who he really is. Be on the lookout for Fenix Flexin Vol.1 that is set to drop in a couple weeks. “Toxic” is out now on SoundCloud, but will be on all streaming platforms when the project is released.
