It’s summer meaning it’s concert and festival season! This past weekend I got to experience the West Coast in full effect.
I started off at Downtown LA’s The Novo (at LA Live) to see RJ with Sadboy Loko, Splacc and Fresco. With it being summertime, they brought out many of their homies from LBC, Leimert Park, Compton to Watts: Uncle Snoop, Dom Kennedy, YG, scHoolboy Q, Joe Moses, Jay 305, Leswood, and Earl Swavey accompanied by DJ Hed.
My seats were pretty good but I’m 5’2, so forgive me haha!

Uncle Snoop Dogg c-walkin and educating the youngstas
Now to Summertime in the LBC–which was at the Queen Mary–legendary to say the very least. It was a hybrid of 1985, 2007 and today put together. Lots of OGs and the next generation were there.
Our inner Chola was out when MC Magic brought out Ms. Krazie.
MC Magic of NB Ridaz having us in our feels 10 years later, included with a couple who got engaged.
DJ Quik and Suga Free asking us why we bullshittin’?
Phora‘s first festival, girls going crazy and all. He’s on the come up.
Daz and Kurupt (Dogg Pound) c-walkin and giving us grewsome twosome vibes.
Lil Rob was incredible and made me want to log into my MySpace and upload “Summer Nights” to show some firme love to my pagina.
Needless to say, even with an exhausted body, this weekend was legendary. I cannot wait to tell my kids I saw these artists. Back to Reality y’all.
