03 Greedo (formerly known as Greedy Giddy) is a name you need to be familiar with ASAP if you aren’t already. The Watts rapper/producer/singer is incredibly talented and prolific with his output, releasing 3 projects in the past 13 months, all filled with at least 30 songs each. Greedo’s ever-growing buzz began growing when he created a tribute record titled “Mafia Business“, dedicated to his fallen friend Raymond Lee Arnold aka “Mafia Ray” in 2016 which went viral in Los Angeles. Since then, he’s done songs with the likes of PNB Rock, G. Perico, and Rich The Kid, plus received a cosign from Nipsey Hussle.
This past Friday July 28th, Greedo’s latest project ‘Purple Summer 03: Purple Hearted Soldier’ was released (he’s currently incarcerated for the better part of two weeks due to an undisclosed reason or amount of time) filled with 30 tracks of fire. Aside from the unfavorable circumstances, the Watts crooners music is spreading like wildfire as the organic #FreeGreedo campaign carries on strongly on all social media platforms.
Purple Summer 03 features top-notch production from underground LA staples RonRon of the Hitmob, Rob Two, Greedo himself and is as diverse a body of work as you’ll hear the entire year. This project literally has something for everyone, if you enjoy the new wave of vibey turn up rap, he’s got what you need with “Run For Your Life”, “Warrior” and “Gucci Down Molly Up”, if you need to send a song to a shorty who you’re iffy about you can play her “If I”.
