Kendrick Lamar presents “Alright”

Compton protege Kendrick Lamar premiered the video earlier for “Alright”, from To Pimp a Butterfly. While the beginning of the video is a completely different, unreleased Black Hippy song, about 2 minutes in the actual song starts. However, the video is dope enough not to skip the intro. Never ceasing to amaze us with his socially aware lyricism and conscious visuals, Lamar decides to focus on the recent wave of police-based violence and hood realities. While this issue is nothing new, Kendrick gives a positive approach chanting “We gon’ be alright!” throughout the song. Following his TDE labelmate Jay Rock’s footsteps, he too is levitating throughout the video. Without directly stating it, Kendrick gives us a stylish “f&*k the police” vibe.
