Whittier Duo SelfKing released their Old English mixtape last year but it’s brand new to my ears and is one of the most refreshing debut projects I’ve heard in some time. The fact that both weren’t afraid to take risks like singing their own melodies, having an array of different flows, switching from serious to frivolous and choosing contrasting beats throughout was so invigorating. To create a track like Mos Def then follow it up with Cold and Vagrants then close it out with Ode2Forever makes it a must listen. This duo from The Dub is definitely a group you need to be hip to NOW.
