BJ The Chicago Kid and ScHoolboy Q are back with another great record? Yes It’s True. The duo who brought you “Studio” are now 2/2 this year. This track however is much more conscious than the previously mentioned song.
The video for this record takes us back to BJ’s hometown providing the backdrop to tell these touching stories. BJ essentially raps 2 verses explaining true tragic life stories of his upbringing in the Chi. One story, is BJ recalling one of his friends who went to Simeon High School(Derrick Rose, Jabari Parker) who was also nice on the court, but unfortunately got killed leading a different lifestyle off of it. Then, Schoolboy comes at us with an aggressive Setbacks-like feel that is crazy, this flow reminded me a lot of his 2011 “Live Again” track.
