Earl Sweatshirt’s “Rats” came out a couple of days ago, but it was actually an unreleased track from his mixtape, Earl, which came out in 2010. The track is probably not the same as the type of music that he’s making now, but if you loved all the early Odd Future songs that were blunt and straight to the point, then you’ll love this track.
First off, it’s produced by Tyler the Creator, so you already know going in that the instrumental won’t be anything ordinary. After Earl introduces himself by telling us what year he was born and what his genre of music is, he gets straight to the point, talking first to people who talk shit about him by saying “Shit talk myrtle fuck, get your sister fucked.” Basically, stop talking shit, slow down homie, or your sister will get fucked. And yes, Earl will be shooting a homemade POV straight to VHS video so you can watch it on accident when you get home and be scarred for life. Then, while talking about being high, he casually tells us that he has his “middle finger up a stripper’s cunt,” like if that’s just a normal thing to do. Give it a listen and be on the lookout for a new Earl project, which should be dropping soon.
