The timeless DJ Quik is back with Life Jacket, the first single off his new album The Midnight Life due out October 14th. Quik, Suga Free and Dom K, are the 1, 2 and 3 hitters in the LA playa starting lineup so its only right they lead this off. This is what the west needed, modern g-funk shit for Sunday morning cruises. I wouldn’t be surprised if he held on to this beat from the 90’s dusted it off and sent it to Dom and Free.
Suga Free will forever be one of the best to ever do it, he doesn’t even rap he just puts us on game for a minute then gets back to macking your aunties. He literally says “You stayed home bitch cuz your dogs had puppies” and it’s the best bar on the whole song. 2nd place goes to Quik’s “When I play guitar it’s gon’ get my d*ck hard” real players know what he means. Dom is noticeably influenced by Quik and Suga Free, so this collaboration has been a long time in the making.
